Edward captured Samantha looking back toward Maroubra headland as a slow, subtle energy gathered around her. This headland has always fascinated him, and just a few metres from where she stands is the strong rip that carries him out on his surfboard. Painting a familiar landscape felt like stepping into a comfortable place but from a different vantage point, and becoming a spectator, watching the surfers, the shifting weather, and the changing light.
