Artist Statement

As a visual artist born and raised in Sydney, working on the lands of the Gamaragal people, I am continually exploring how landscapes and environments can capture, shape or deepen the narrative around each figure. My work grows from a curiosity about how people see me, how they see themselves, and how they respond to the world around them. This emotional pull toward expression, connection and environment is what drives me to paint.

Working in thin layers of oil paint, I build light, depth and luminosity with intention, offset by experimental marks made with found objects. My influences, Andrew Wyeth, Caspar David Friedrich and Gerhard Richter, inform my interest in atmosphere, feeling and the psychological weight of composition.

At the heart of my practice is the moment of introspection that occurs when someone encounters a landscape. I aim to hold that pause still, inviting viewers to recognise something of themselves in the synchrony between figure and place.
