This drawing realistically portrays Taz, seated on a bench in the suburbs of Newtown.

Edward executed this composition using graphite, charcoal, and conté pencils. He concentrated on replicating the different fabrics from his reference photo, including the texture, value, and contrast to achieve a realistic effect. The half-filled sketchbook she holds presented a crucial decision. Initially, Edward tried writing a tiny word print and drawing small sketches, but it felt inauthentic. He chose to leave the visible page blank, inviting the audience to ponder: What is she about to create?

This intentional omission reflects a deeper artistic question: What greater good am I creating art for? For now, Edward lets the work stand as a testament to process, confident that time will reveal the answer.
