Edward was exploring the rock platform at Gerroa on the NSW South Coast with his dog, who kept slipping into the rock pools behind him. Edward charged out to the edge of the reef to photograph the sea foam, getting blasted by water spraying up and over him. He loved the moment the spray hung in the air against the clear blue sky, and the way the warm ochre rocks in the foreground complemented the dark blue and green headlands stretching out towards Culburra Beach and Beecroft Peninsula. Edward found the composition came together really naturally, and it’s a bright, energetic painting that captures his nostalgia for the coast.
