Hope
Hope
This self-portrait weaves together three versions of myself, each capturing a different emotional state. In the bottom left, a somber and dejected figure lingers, embodying hopelessness and exhaustion. In the top right, only a fragment remains, an isolated eye, a fleeting glimpse of quiet despair. The central figure is where everything collides, my expression is wide-eyed, engulfed in fiery reds and cool blues that evoke the chaos and intensity of the Black Saturday bushfires in NSW. The reds seep into my eyes, mirroring the disaster’s unrelenting force, as if the destruction is not just observed but felt, absorbed, and lived.
